DHW RULES

We are a club based on Pern and we will continue to follow canon according to the books written by Anne McCaffrey and the newer watch wher canon according to the books written by Anne McCaffrey and Todd McCaffrey.

Due to the mature and possibly mild graphic nature of life on Pern, such as homosexuality and dragon's mating flights, you must be at least 13 years old to join. By submitting a join form or our lurker form, you are stating with such action that you meet the age requirement of the club and that if younger than 16 years of age, that you have parent/guardian permission to join Dawn Haven Weyr. By your filling out the join form and placing the words 'Dim Glow' beside your first name, you prove to us that you have read and understand the rules of our age requirements.

Club Rules

Dragon and Rider Pairings (No Exceptions):

Gold Dragon *Heterosexual Women
Bronze Dragon *Heterosexual Men
Brown Dragons *Heterosexual Men
Blue Dragons *Hetero/Bisexual Men
Green Dragons *Women & Homosexual/Bisexual Men

Wher and Handler Pairings have no set pairing rules. One may have more than one Wher in a lifetime, though never at the same time. Also, a wher may have more than one handler, though never at the same time and the wher's name will change with the change of handler.

All major story-lines must be approved by the BoD! Personae deaths, marriage ceremonys, ect… Basically everything that would effect the entire Weyr or Hold.

New members may have up to two personae. Members in good standing with the BoD will be able to have more than two personae. At this time, there are no set restrictions on how many personae or ranking personae a person may have, though you are asked to please be respectful to others who might wish to aquire a ranker. Please be aware of your persona's post requirements and keep that in mind when creating new personae.

Mating flight pairings:

Gold Mating Flights *Winners: Bronze or Brown Dragons(rarely)

Green Mating Flights *Winners: Bronze, Blue, or Brown Dragons

All Personas, ranking or non, are encouraged to post at least once a month per persona. After all, writing and posting is the point! :) You can find the rest of the reqs on the Posting Requirements page. If you constantly ignore any persona or loose interest in that persona or personae, please consider pairing down the amount of personae you have.

Animals

New members may be allowed one pet per personae until they have posted for two months beyond mentorship, and are in good standing with the BoD. (Exceptions can be made. Requires BoD approval.)

Gold/Bronze Riders and Gold/Bronze Wher Handlers will not be allowed to have a gold or bronze firelizard.

Candidates will be allowed only one firelizard until they enter into Weyrlinghood.

Watch Whers and Handlers are wanted and welcomed and encouraged to join.

Candidates will not be allowed a runnerbeast until they:

1. Do Not Impress
2. Leave Weyrlinghood

Crafters:

The following craft ages are used here at Dawn Haven Weyr. Exceptions can and will be made, per BoD approval and please remember that not everyone makes it to the rank of Master, just as not everyone in real life gets their PHD.

Think of it like this:

Apprentices/School, Journeyman/College or University, Master/PHD

Jr. Apprentice *12-15 years old*
Sr. Apprentice *15-17 years old*
Jr. Journeyman *17-26 years old*
Jr. Journeywoman *17-26 years old*
Sr. Journeyman *26-30 years old*
Sr. Journeywoman *26-30 years old*

Master *30 and up* (by BoD approval only)
Hallmaster *40 and up* (by BoD approval only)

Rules of Play:

ABSOLUTELY NO FLAMING!!! Any flaming/advertising on the club mailing list or Bulletin Board. You may post your personal website URL and other clubs in your profile on the Bulletin Board and your profile on the Members Page Profiles. (Certain advertisements may be acceptable. Please contact the BoD in the event you believe your request to be noteworthy.) No excuses or exceptions to the rules regarding flaming. Take any club disputes to the BoD and any and all personal disputes somewhere it will not effect the club in _any_ form.

The first time you break a major rule you will be warned and put on probation for three months. The second time you will be put back on mentorship & a formal letter of apology requested. If the problem carries over to a third time you will be firmly, but politely, asked to leave. If the infraction is extremely severe, the BoD as a whole may ask you to leave immediately, skipping the other steps.

Basically, we are all grown, so please conduct yourself in a mature manner. While we don't always get along with everyone, we don't have to post with them or be friends with them, even within the same club. Please take ownership of your actions. Think before you act or react! If you can't be civil, just don't say anything! To Prove that you have read these rules put 'Rider Mine' in the Persona Discription on the Join Form.

The rules are not set in stone and can (and probably will be) changed. The purpose of these rules are not to limit the fun of the members, they are to provide guidelines so that everyone is informed and organized, enabling everyone to relax and have fun. Wild and crazy members who love to post and have a fun time are welcomed with open arms. We need those who like to spice things up and put a little spring in our steps.
