DAWN HAVEN WEYR'S HISTORY

Dawn Haven Weyr was founded three turns after the young Weyrwoman from High Reaches and a wing of dragonriders flew down to the South and created a small, but prosperous Weyr called FireHeart Weyr. With the opening of the small southern Weyr tyranny in the north increased and the power struggle that went on between the Weyrs became unbearable as Weyrwoman Crikaji of Fort Weyr took over the Northern Conclave and then began placing her hand-picked goldriders in different Weyrs across the Southern Continent. Even though the dragonriders from FireHeart broke from the North and moved to the South, their Weyr was still under the tyrannical reach of Weyrwoman Crikaji and never did manage to fully shake the Northern Conclave.

A small band of rogue riders, however, grew tired of their limited rights, and under the leadership of Alydeana and Y'ton, the riders flew South together, in search of a new Weyr where they could once again live free as the respected Dragon Riders of Pern.

It was on a chilly morning that the dragonriders discovered the dusty and run down Weyr that would become their home, and as Rukbat rose over the Weyr's Star Stones, hope grew within the small band, and they took it as a sign that there in that spot they would prosper. Giving the place it's name of Dawn Haven Weyr.

With Dawn Haven's limited resources, luxuries are short at the moment, but they've already found their first hold to defend from thread. Not far from their Weyr a small, sturdy Hold is located that specializes in vintages and crops, and at least with the Hold's tithing, the Weyr can have plenty of food and drink. Thus, with their short number of riders Dawn Haven has called upon the help and alliance of FireHeart Weyr to fight thread, but with time and good leadership the small Weyr will soon have plenty of riders to fight thread on it's own.

On M12.D13.T04, Golden Arumyth rose to mate. Weyrleader Y'ton's Bronze Dalruth caught her, confirming his leadership of the Weyr. About four sevendays later, fourteen eggs appeared on the hot, black sands of the Hatching Grounds, though one egg, smaller than the others and neatly concealed amongst a rocky corner of the Hatching Grounds, was overlooked. One egg, golden in color, was protected by the large bulk of Arumyth in the rocky corner, effectively hiding the fourteenth egg.

Eight sevendays later, the Weyr was woken in the predawn hours to the humming of the Weyr's dragonkind population. The first to hatch was a bronze, allowing the spectators to breathe a sigh of relief at this good omen. Thirteen eggs had hatched and found their lifemates. Myrfael was chosen by golden Casileth to be her lifemate. The spectators and disappointed candidates had begun to leave the Hatching Grounds when the thrumming began again and the fourteenth, hidden egg split it's shell, revealing tiny golden Sivenoth, who, upon cracking her shell was smaller than the greens just hatched. The little one Impressed to the Weyr Dragonhealer Second, Callier.

Now the Weyr looks more like a real working Weyr with the addition of the weyrlings. A successful hatching that held two queens gives a good omen for those of the Weyr who are finally settling into a routine free from the tyranny of the Northern Conclave.
